Gladiolus is often referred to as Sword Lily. The Latin name Gladius means sword. Their leaves look like swords and the colors available are white, yellow, orange, pink, red, purple and green. Gladiolus thrives in full sun and planting occurs in May. Gladiolus grows from corms which may be lifted from the ground in the fall and stored during the winter months. The cormlets are planted the following year in May.
