As the summer progressed so did my rockery. Much to my delight the result is overwhelming. This wonderful addition garnered countless compliments and is the focal point of my front yard. Kind of reminds me of a lovely foyer inside a pretty home, the rockery is the entranceway outside the home.
In September I planted seventy-five bulbs and springtime is anxiously awaited. This is the beginning of November and the following picture illustrates the enormous array of colour still provided. A rockery embraces plants for all seasons. The vast selection of suitable species is phenomenal.
The following picture illustrates a mid summer appearance. Spring held a certain fantasy with the young plants developing and certain species already in full bloom. The contrast to summer was simply stunning. As the rockery was built this year I look forward to appreciating certain varieties that will bloom early and reward me with another perspective. The time and effort expended for this venture paid off handsomely. The finished result exceeded my expectations and I spent countless hours thoroughly enjoying this gorgeous garden. If you love perennials build a rock garden. The rockery has provided me with more challenges, enjoyment and complete devotion than any other gardening project. If trees, shrubs and vines are the solar system then perennials are the shining stars.
