Annuals - Portulaca

Portulaca is another lovely annual. Portulaca thrives in hot, dry locations. Portulacas are rose-like flowers in every shade imaginable. The saucer-shaped, silken blooms are true sun worshippers.

In spite of their ability to withstand drought, Portulaca should be watered from time to time to achieve the best flowers.

Portulaca

Portulaca has long fleshy leaves which may be covered with blooms during hot, dry summers. Portulaca must be planted in full sun as the blooms will not produce if the area is shady. Sandy soil is best suited for this plant. Portulaca attains a height of approximately four to eight inches.
