Hydrangeas

And we cannot forget our furry friends as they too love Hydrangeas. Oscar is always camouflaging himself in the garden beds and he loves smelling this particular Hydrangea. He attempts to get in the center which I try to discourage as I prefer the branches to remain intact.

Hydrangeas

Another consideration regarding pets is the dried flower arrangements. In the beginning Oscar was constantly chewing on my blooms which created an enormous mess and the tell tale sign of his activity was Hydrangea bits stuck in his fur. His habits began changing when I used hair spray for the painted varieties. Each year I purchase a few tins of hair spray and liberally spray each arrangement. Occasionally he munches on a few but the use of the spray has dissuaded him greatly from the dried arrangement.

This wonderful plant returns each year and to date I have not encountered any problems with disease, lack of color, abundance of blooms or plants dying over the winter months.
