Hydrangeas

Pink Hydrangeas thrive in acidic soil with a lack of aluminum. In order to prevent the plant from drawing aluminum you may add lime and fertilizer with high levels of phosphorous. The lime will raise the PH level thus avoiding a blue effect on your plant. The fertilizer also prevents aluminum from reaching the plant.

Hydrangeas

When choosing a location for these magnificent specimens attempt to situate in an area where the blooms may be enjoyed throughout the summer season. This Hydrangea is at the back of my yard and when you view plants from the patio this Hydrangea is slightly off center nestled among annuals, shrubs and trees. This Hydrangea garners rave reviews.

Do not cut this plant back at the end of the season. Simply use the spent flowers for indoor flower arrangements and let the plant die back naturally. The following new growth will appear on old wood.

Hydrangeas

This particular Hydrangea is so big and bountiful that it is difficult to count the number of blooms. This is just one plant however the size and amount of blooms lead people to believe it is several plants. Frequently visitors ask how a Hydrangea can acquire so many blooms. The answer is plenty of water, acidifier, no aluminum additives, location and never cutting the plant back at the end of the season.
